Tornike Sharashenidze

Tornike Sharashenidze is a full-time professor and the Head of the MA Program of International Affairs at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA). He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a PhD in International Relations. Dr. Sharashenidze teaches courses on the History of Diplomacy and Intelligence studies. Before joining GIPA, Dr. Sharashenidze worked as an analyst at the National Security Council of Georgia, as the Foreign Affairs Assistant to the Prime Minister of Georgia, and as the Director of the Information Center on NATO. Tornike Sharashenidze was the Chairman of the Board of the International Society of Democracy and Fair Elections. He actively participates in Georgian-Russian expert dialogues and cooperates as an independent expert with famous European non-Governmental organizations such as Fride and the Center of North-Atlantic Affairs. He is a regular contributor to European Council on Foreign Relations Wider Europe, Caucasus Analytical Digest and Georgian Review. He is the author of the book “History of Diplomacy,” which is the first Georgian textbook in this field (2013). Dr. Sharashenidze has also translated and published “The Soldier and the State” by S.P. Huntington.
